According to a Pew Research Study, 77% of Americans agree that developing alternative renewable energy sources should be prioritized over increasing U.S. production of non-renewable energy sources. Our world is growing increasingly more invested in using ‘green’ energy sources, and it’s past time for HVAC companies to prioritize sustainable HVAC solutions in their business.
The US Department of Energy states that as much as 30% of a commercial building’s energy consumption goes to waste, which leaves HVAC companies with a challenge and an opportunity. Thankfully, Commercial HVAC companies can provide renewable energy solutions without compromising the level of care and service. HVAC company, Atlantic Westchester, provided advice on how to make commercial HVAC systems more sustainable. These suggestions are listed below:
- Geothermal Heat Pump: This technology utilizes the earth’s existing energy by transferring heat from the ground into the conditioned space during cold weather and transferring heat from the conditioned space into the ground in hot weather.
- Sustainable Retrofits: This strategy to upgrade HVAC systems helps to improve energy efficiency, improve older system reliability, and usually saves money. Sustainable retrofits can work especially well for commercial HVAC systems.
- Zoned HVAC Systems: With Zoned HVAC Systems, each room or space has its thermostat, which gives the user control over which spaces need heating or cooling. This strategy can reduce operating expense and system wear and tear, thereby lengthening equipment life expectancy
- Smart Thermostats: Implementing smart thermostats into the HVAC system, give you more control over the heating and cooling, so it’s only on when you need it to be.
